Eyebrow Microblading

Clients searching for a more permanent option when it comes to their eyebrows should consider Microblading. What is Microblading? This is a way of semi-permanent make-up through the manual process of inserting pigment into the upper layers of skin to create the desired fullness and shape of the eyebrows. Also called eyebrow embroidery, the effect can last up to 18 months after which the pigment fades leaving the skin and your natural brows. A thorough consultation is required to determine the correct shape and pigment to be used. A touch-up is also required in 6 to 8 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions About Microblading

I don’t know if I like this color? It seems too dark…
Be prepared that the color and intensity will be darker and sharper right after the procedure. This will fade 30% to 50% and a re-touch session is recommended.
How soon do I have to return for a re-touch session?
Retouch is recommended 4 to 6 weeks after the initial procedure.
I get Botox, is that Ok?
Sure! We recommend at least 2 weeks before the procedure so it has time to set in.
What about Retin_A?
Stop 2 weeks before the procedure and 2 weeks after. You need to avoid your eyebrow area while your skin is healing.
I usually get my eyebrows waxed. Will I still have to do that with Microblading?
Yes. Microblading adds pigment to your existing brow. The hairs around your brow will still need to be waxed and tweezed to maintain a clean look. If waxing, we recommend scheduling that service a few days before the microblading.
I have a scar through my eyebrow, will Microblading fix it?
Most of the time, yes. A consultation may be required on a client to client basis. We can blade into the scar to see if the pigment will take. Most of the time 1 or 2 retouch sessions will be required.
I have an old tattoo on my eyebrows that’s grey and ashy in color and I don’t like it. I also don’t like the shape. Can Microblading fix it?
Yes. Correcting old permanent makeup with Microblading can change the color and shape of your brow. Clients must have realistic expectations. We can use modifiers to correct the color of an old tattoo. Most of the time 1 or 2 retouch sessions will be required.
Why is Microblading different than a tattoo?
Microblading is done with a hand tool and a disposable blade. A new blade is used on each client. Its desired affect results in strokes designed to mimic the look of real hair. We use pigment (not ink) and try to match the clients undertone and color of the eyebrow hairs. This will result in a very natural, wearable, brow that lasts up to 18 months.
Does Eyebrow Microblading hurt?
Before the procedure, a numbing cream is used over the treatment area and left on for 20 to 30 minutes. Then throughout the procedure, a numbing gel is used to make the client as comfortable as possible. Each client is different according to skin type and tolerance. Some clients claim to feel completely numb, while others experience some discomfort.
I have a huge event this weekend, can I get Microblading?
You may experience some redness or swelling right after the procedure. This can last anywhere from 1 to 4 days as everyone heals differently. With the correct after care, the skin should heal nicely. Please leave the barrier cream on your eyebrows as long as possible. If the skin gets really dry or flaky, then use virgin organic coconut oil.
Can I use Vaseline or petroleum jelly after the procedure?
No. Clients should avoid the use of Vaseline while the skin is healing. The skin is not able to “breathe” and it can cause crusting or scabbing. You can expect to see some flaking after the treatment. Please leave the area alone and do not rub or pick the brows. If the area feels tight or itchy, then the aftercare balm can be applied or organic coconut oil.
Can I use brow products like pencil or powder with Microblading?
Yes. Clients who desire a bold brow or the look of powder can still use products on their brows. It is recommended to wait at least 10-14 days after the first session before applying makeup onto the brow. Many clients like to use products in between the 1st session and the touch up session. Once the touch up is done, very little makeup may be necessary.
I'm undergoing chemotherapy, can I get Microblading?
Talk with your Doctor. Usually we advise to wait about 6 months until after the chemotherapy sessions are over to prevent the risk of infections.
If I'm pregnant or breastfeeding, is Microblading a good idea?
No. Many women experience hormonal changes due to pregnancy and it is possible that the pigment color could react or change. There is also a greater risk of infections possible that could affect the child’s health.
